Miracle Morning

The name of the book “Miracle Morning” triggered me most. How can a morning be miraculous? Don’t we all just wake up, take a shower, have breakfast, go to work and repeat this every day? Not to start about the claim the author (Hal Elrod) makes “The 6 habits that will transform your life before 8AM”, is that even possible/ human? If this was true, it was exactly what I needed: creating a more successful life by dedicating time for myself in the mornings.

For the past 2 months I woke up at 5AM and yes I can say it transformed my life. Now I know why I was running behind before I even started my day. I was waking up in a rush, making a to-do list of my to-do list. Believe it or not, but I had a lack of energy and I was just focused on getting through the day. Reading this book made me realize: I wasn’t productive, focused and definitely not creating the life that I wanted (even though I thought so). But more important I realized I could turn it around (very quickly).

How to change your life before 8AM in the morning? Hereby the three key takeaways for your life-changing morning routine: 

1) Preparation: What to prepare? Three things: i) your alarm: set your alarm an hour earlier versus your regular wake up time (for me that was 5AM versus 6AM) and put your alarm far away from your bed (so you have to get out of bed and there is no chance to snooze!), ii) your mindset: imagine what waking up early can bring you and try to feel the energy before you have even done it. A positive mind around waking up early will make you wake up with a smile (even if you wake up at 4AM) and iii) put the tools in place that you need for the 6 life S.A.V.E.R.S (see below: #3) 

2. Waking up: nothing is as easy as snoozing. Not knowing that that single moment defines and impacts exactly how you feel the rest of the day (lack of discipline). Therefore, as soon as your alarm goes off: i) jump out of bed, ii) get out of your bedroom, iii) brush your teeth and splash some water on your face and iv) drink a big glass of water. Pretty sure you will be ready for your routine after this. 

3. The 6 life S.A.V.E.R.S: build your own morning routine by practicing the S.A.V.E.R.S each for 10 min: 1) build in and enjoy some Silence, 2) encourage and tell yourself Affirmations, 3) Imagine what you want to achieve by Visualization, 4) get your body and mind active by Exercising, 5) take some time learn by Reading, 6) order your thought with Scribing. Start with practicing all 6 life S.A.V.E.R.S, but don not be to hard on yourself. After three weeks I selected my favorite S.A.V.E.R.S (Silence, Exercising and Reading) and created my own morning routine (and it is still changing my life every day!)

Creating this routine and truly experiencing “Miracle Morning” did not only change my “Morning” but also the rest of my day, my week and so far my life. It creates a superhuman feeling that you have never experienced before. You will be in charge of whatever you want and ready to take anyone else with you. One lesson for me: I’ve never regretted the moment I jumped out of bed and followed my routine. It gave me energy and perspective (even when I had a slow start). Which is the total opposite of how I felt the times that I snoozed. Every snooze in the morning was a regret and bad feeling after I woke up. So prepare, set your alarm, create your own routine and get what you want!
